What does our rebrand mean to me?

A sense of pride.

I've always known that what we have is something a little bit special.

This has largely been due to the honesty and authenticity of the fabulous people that have played a part in Creative over the years.

In more recent times, that something special has really progressed into what we offer, individually and collectively, strategically and creatively.

That’s what this brand refresh is about for me. It's about a better reflection of us not just as nice, genuine people, but also as specialists in our field.


What I do at Creative

As one of the owners, my job is to help create an environment that our team and our clients thrive in. As Director of Account Service it’s to ensure we have happy clients who understand and appreciate our offer.

The best thing about my job

The glamour… ok, so really it’s the fact that in general, I really like what I do.

Career highlight

Going from employee to employer. Scary as heck but it can be incredibly rewarding.

Favourite ad of all time

The Think Small ad and the series of Volkswagen ads that followed in the 60s by Doyle Dane Bernbach. It was revolutionary stuff in a time in America when everything was BIG and fuel was cheap.

To relax I like to

Having a brand that truly reflects who we are is what I am proud of the most.
 

What does our rebrand mean to me?

The realisation of a vision.

Everyone in the agency knows how much I appreciate a good looking object. Whether it’s beautifully crafted print, photography, illustrations or digital, there is so much to like about a piece of work that’s been carefully considered and designed with the end-user in mind.

But it’s much more than just aesthetics. In my opinion, the best brands combine both form and function. Whilst we’ve been working hard behind-the-scenes to make sure that the functional part of our business is where it needs to be, we’re just as excited to now launch our new ‘form’. Having a brand that truly reflects who we are, what we are capable of, and our potential is what I am proud of the most.

For me, it really is the realisation of a vision I’ve had for many years. To see this vision shared by those closest around me has been incredibly fulfilling.


What I do at Creative

I am responsible for the overall smooth running and operational side of the agency including creative, finance, admin and everything in between!

The best thing about my job

The flexibility to work in different facets of the business but mostly the satisfaction of seeing our team develop great solutions for our clients.

Career highlight

Being given the opportunity to manage a large retail client at the age of 20 that gave me the best possible grounding into the industry. It showed me that anything was possible in spite of ridiculously tight deadlines and rapidly moving goal posts - it’s amazing what pizza, late nights and the camaraderie of a great group of people can achieve!

Favourite ad of all time

I would have to say the original Apple Think Different ad. It’s as effective today as it was 20-odd years ago when it was first produced.

What does our rebrand mean to me?

Fulfilling our potential.

Working on both sides of the fence gave me a pretty unique perspective coming back to Creative. As a client, I learnt a lot about what clients value – and the moment I stepped back into Creative I knew we had it. As part of the rebrand we’ve been able to put that into words – simply put, it’s the Creative way. The way we do things – we work with our hearts on our sleeves and with our clients’ interests just as important to us as our own. That’s what I think makes relationships work – and it’s built in to how we trust.

Knowing this, it feels like our potential is always growing, and so long as we stay true to who we are and the way we do things that’ll be the way it is for at least another 25 years.

I've been lucky enough to have been part of the Creative family for nearly a decade and witness this amazing transformation that's been building up to this very moment.

As someone who is responsible for daily dealings with our valued clients, on projects big and small, it's very important to me to know that our external facing brand promise matches our service delivery. 

Knowing my actions align with our new brand means that I can confidently conduct myself with clients, get the job done to the highest standard and feel assured that they are experiencing the best service possible.

For me, this re-enforces what we are already doing, and doing well, but now we are able to deliver our world-class service, with a brand to match.

What does our rebrand mean to me?

Growing and evolving as one.

We’re always challenging ourselves, and when presented with projects we never thought we could do, we do them, and we always do them well. That’s because of the very special group of people we have inside the agency and the great bunch of people we surround ourselves with outside the agency. 

Our new brand is another new project and it’s the perfect visual representation of how the agency steps-up, grows with the times and evolves. We couldn’t have done it without the best people working together, some putting in a few of extra hours, others picking up the slack to give those people the time to do what they needed to do, lots of collaboration and always sharing. 


What I do at Creative

I’m the link between the suits and the studio, keeping the work flowing smoothly and on time. I also work with suppliers, to manage the cost side of things and ensure that work gets delivered on time.

The best thing about my job

I love getting things done and I’m at my happiest when things run like clockwork. Also, working with a great bunch of people who all think alike and enjoy a good laugh.

Career highlight

There have been a few. I would have to say the turning point was being pushed kicking and screaming into Production and loving it. It’s brought me to where I am today and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Favourite ad of all time

There are many. We used to go to the cinema and watch the Cannes Lions award winners every year and I could never pick a favourite. I would have to say the ones that are stuck in my head are all car TV commercials, the top three being from the ’90’s. One was a Mercedes Benz advert crashing off Chapman’s Peak Drive in Cape Town. BMW came back about a month later on the same stretch of road, showing off its road handling, with the punchline being “a luxury sedan that beats the bends”. The last one was Golf GTI driving through fields of corn so fast that it all turned to popcorn.

A road trip through Europe.

To relax I like to

Go for a run or cycle, walk on the beach, veg on the couch watching a movie, BBQ with friends and family.

What does our rebrand mean to me?

Confidence tempered with humility.

I have been a part of this team for six years now and I'm sure for many more to come. In that time, I have seen this team grow from strength to strength. I feel that as a highly competent group of professionals who are also just down right humble people, we continuously look for ways to improve ourselves.

Having a view that there are always opportunities to learn new things, in spite of already having confidence in one's abilities, allows for continuous improvement.

To me, this brand refresh is exactly that – another improvement in our ongoing journey. 

Now I just have to figure out how to improve my golf.

A modern take on old-school values.

As a company that I’ve grown up knowing, this brand refresh is something really exciting for me. I didn’t even realise how much of a great idea it was until I was told about it.

To me, the brand represents just how much the team, and Creative itself, have grown over the years. It feels like it's a more refreshing representation of what the incredible people here have to offer, both individually and collectively. 

With the new brand came me, and my place within the Creative team, so of course I feel very grateful and eager to be a part of this next phase. Not everything is new, but everything is revitalised.

As the new Digital Co-ordinator, I’m learning a lot and am very excited about my new role.

What does our rebrand mean to me?

The best of both worlds.

I’ve seen a few changes in the past year since starting at Creative ADM. New faces, new brands to work on and now a new brand refresh - even new coffee mugs.

Although the rebrand sees a fresh and progressive look for Creative, some other key factors still remain the same. 

The team’s focus on producing great work, positive values and looking out for each other (along with my original coffee mug that I used on my first day) are still evident.

Our rebrand means I am a part of a renewed vision where a collection of ideas, people, skills and of course great design come together, to ultimately spark brilliance. The various projects and work shows to me the true value, passion and personality that Creative ADM have and I feel privileged to be involved in the next stage of this passionate, hardworking team.

Getting a phone call from Creative ADM saying “You’ve got the job” while trying not to scream Marty’s ear off on the phone from excitement, followed by an Oprah style… “you get a cake, you get a cake, everyone gets a cake!” scenario.

FAVOURITE AD OF ALL TIME

There’s so many to choose from, but a handful of food ads immediately come to mind. The standout one is the “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” Snickers campaign ads (in particular the Betty White one), which are great, very comical and have that very relatable hangry factor! Being a foodie, this favourite doesn’t surprise me.
